Welcome Back from Mrs. Lliteras

Dear Prairie Ridge Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year, a year like no other! We have been excited to see everyone online as we navigate through the beginning of the school year. We are hopeful and excited to welcome students back at the end of September and are busy creating procedures and protocols to ensure the well-being and safety of everyone in the Prairie Ridge Community. The COVID-19 pandemic has impacted every aspect of our lives, and while we navigate all the changes it has brought, we remain hopeful and inspired to channel this adversity to create new opportunities and better ways of teaching and learning at Prairie Ridge.

We are excited to welcome one new classroom teacher to Prairie Ridge this year! Ms. Lauren Massey will join our second grade team.  Lauren will be a tremendous addition to our staff. Ms. Leanne Murray will join our team part-time as our School Psychologist and Ms. Tanya Mander will support us with occupational therapy part-time. They both are building strong relationships with our staff, students and parents. Finally, we were able to hire some amazing Paraprofessional support in our autism classes. Mrs. Cinnamon Daniels, Shelly Werginz and Ea Wah Koh. They have jumped right in working with students and prepping for our reopening.

We will also be implementing a new Social Study  curriculum at Prairie Ridge this year called Impact Social Studies.  We piloted the program last year in kindergarten and third grades and saw immediate improvements in student performance and engagement. This program immerses students in rich content, exploring diverse themes and important topics with respect to diversity and social justice through real student literature. We can’t wait to watch students dive into this resource!

Thank you again for your patience and understanding in this challenging time. I speak for everyone at Prairie Ridge when I say we truly miss each one of you and cannot wait to see you in person this year!

Jill Lliteras, Principal
