Education, and the greatness of our nation

One of the most important institutions in our society is public education. Of the approximately 55 million K-12 aged children in the United States, it is estimated that 90 percent are enrolled in public schools. Second only to parenting, the longstanding institution of public education will have the greatest influence on America’s future.

In Colorado, we’ve experienced an ongoing discussion around the adequacy of resources for our public schools with mixed results.

Summer Lunch Program for Students

Students and families throughout our communities will be able to access free lunches this summer. Meals will be provided to any child under the age of 18. Adults with a child will be able to eat at "no charge" until funding dollars run out.

Meals will be provided at Countryside Village, Roth Rock Dell Park, Kanemoto Park, Carr Park and the Longmont Youth Center. Please review the flyer for days, times and activities.

Prairie Ridge Elementary School launches Red Shirt Program

Prairie Ridge fifth graders Miles Anna and Drew Hershey didn’t know each other when the school year began but now they’re teaching each other basketball tricks and high-fiving in the halls between classes.

Miles and Drew are among the first students to participate in Prairie Ridge Elementary School’s Red Shirt Program, which launched in the fall.

Congratulations Class of 2018

Public Education – Empowering the Future

Public education is one of the most powerful systems for driving positive change in our society.
Across the United States, approximately 90 percent of our children attend a public school – and in the St. Vrain Valley, that percentage is even higher.
